25 injured after turbulence hits Salt Lake City flight headed to Europe
Over two dozen passengers were injured after a Delta flight from Salt Lake City struck severe turbulence mid-flight, forcing the plane to make an unplanned landing in Minneapolis. Flight DL56 from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam was in the air for nearly 90 minutes when it hit the turbulence. A passenger on the flight who asked to remain anonymous told FOX 13 News that the plane, an Airbus A330-900, made a sudden drop as flight attendants were in the aisle with serving carts, sending them into the air. "Every one of them flew and hit the ceiling, the beverage carts also flew into the air," said the passenger. "Any items that were loose in the cabin got thrown everywhere. [The] plane is a mess, covered in liquids and service items." After the flight landed, a pilot told him the plane had plunged 1,000 feet, although Delta officials did not confirm that number.

Aging accelerates in middle age, according to new research.
A comprehensive study of protein changes in different organs over time suggests aging is not linear. Researchers analyzed tissue samples from 76 individuals of Chinese ancestry, aged 14 to 68, who died of accidental brain injuries; they found an inflection point around age 50, after which the pace of aging appeared to accelerate. The study also revealed different organs age at different rates, with blood vessels aging first. However, researchers caution larger studies are needed to confirm age 50 as a definitive turning point.

Medieval Knight’s Remains Found Under Former Ice Cream Shop
Archaeologists have discovered what they believe to be the remains of a medieval knight under a former ice cream parlor in Poland. The city released a statement earlier this month announcing that researchers had found the remains while excavating the site of the ice cream shop, which opened in the 1960s. ArcheoScan, a Polish archaeological company, discovered the well-preserved, full skeleton inside the remains of a coffin. Its researchers have deduced after initial examinations that the man was around 40 years old and 5 feet 6 inches tall. They said that the tombstone had been there for over 700 years and featured the image of an armored knight holding a shield carved into it. Popular Mechanics reported that the coat of arms on the engraved shield had faded away, so researchers have not been able to deduce whom the knight served. ArcheoScan has been examining the area since 2023, after developers bought the site. In 2024, they found the remains of a church built in 1140 as well as more than 200 medieval graves nearby.
